Easter in Istanbul
The spiral of violence spreads like wildfire in the Middle East. The more the
VIPs of this world try to put out the blaze, the more incidents involving
hatred and intolerance fan the flames and cause it to spread. Violence,
vengeance, death are the rule, a rule that is accepted by an increasingly
indifferent world as a matter of course. Why worry? When we are under the
spell of our own cosy, comfortable existence, we feel nothing but indifference
and scorn for suffering. Nobody can put an end to this reign of hatred and
terror. The more such evil spreads, the more it becomes the norm. We wash our
hands of it like Pontius Pilate, with a vague feeling that it is indecent to
stir up human misery.
However this heartless world has rediscovered its raison
d'être, its values and its inner vitality with the collective coming of
Sahaja Yoga.
The Easter gathering in Istanbul was a celebration of Christ's
resurrection, but it was also a demonstration for the whole world of how
heartfelt love and compassion can bring together under the same roof Turkish
and Greek Sahaja Yogis, Israeli and Arab Sahaja Yogis, yogis from the West and
from the East. The shared feeling of being as one, the spontaneity with which
friendships were formed, the collective joy as one and all were carried away
by the sound of the music and the rhythm of the dancing, all this for me was
the living proof that Sahaja Yoga was becoming the microcosm of tolerance and
affection that had to be established world-wide. One day, the dream will come
true, and our planet will be transformed into a Garden of Eden.
